September 2019 Programme
Dear Members, please note that we cannot have the first Tuesday of each month at the Charles Dickens, so we will be meeting there only on the last three or four Tuesdays of the month. Please also note the new finishing time of 10.45pm.
Sunday 1st September BBQ on Goring Green (weather permitting). From 12 noon. Bring your own meat, bread, salad and chair. We will provide the barbeques, cakes and a gazebo. See poster or contact Enid for more details.

Tuesday 3rd September NO BREAKAWAY CLUB NIGHT. *Comedy Club at the Charles Dickens. Starts 8pm. Free entry.
Friday 6th September Ten Pin Bowling on the first Friday of the month. Meet in the bar at Worthing Bowl at 8pm. £11.35 for two games. Contact Glyn if you would like to go.
Sunday 8th September Hilary’s Ferring Walk. Meet 1.30pm near the Bull’s Head, Ferring, BN12 5AR (please do not park in the pub car park). The walk will be along the Ilex Way, with tea and cakes at Kingsley Coffee and Crafts Café, Ferring, then back to the Bull’s Head. Please put your name on the list if you would like to go or contact Hilary.
Tuesday 10th September Club Night at the Charles Dickens. Doors open 8pm until 10.45pm. Tonight's meeting will be held in the room at street level on the left of the entrance door. We will make room for our Disco and dancing at the far end. We will also be able to use the lounge area on the right of the entrance. Tonight we have all night to chat to friends and dance to the music of one of our own DJs. Usual raffle, door prize and Snowball.
Friday 13th September Phil’s Disco at the John Selden, with DJ Phil. £3pp. 8pm to 11pm. Friends and relations are welcome. There will be nibbles and a free lucky number raffle ticket on entry. Please put your name down on the noticeboard list if you would like to go, or contact Phil for more details.
Tuesday 17th September Ray’s Knockout Kard Game on Club Night at the Charles Dickens. Simple game of chance that anyone can win! £1 for two games with four chances to be a winner! And it only takes about half an hour, so plenty of time to catch up with friends and dance to the music of one of our own DJs. Usual raffle, door prize and Snowball. Doors open 8pm to 10.45pm.
Thursday 19th September *Arundel Jailhouse Blues Night. You will need to book and print your own tickets if you want to go. Tickets are bookable online.
Tuesday 24th September Richard’s Quiz on Club Night at the Charles Dickens. This very popular quiz will start at about 8.15pm, and finish at about 9pm, so you need to get there early if you want plenty of time to complete the quiz. Costs £1pp to participate. Teams are of up to six people. And still plenty of time to chat to friends and dance to the music of one of our own DJs. Usual raffle, door prize and Snowball. Collect your October Programme tonight.
Friday 27th September Arun Solos Disco at Arundel Cricket Club. Cheap drinks and a popular venue with Breakaway members. Starts 8pm until 11.30pm. Cost £7 on the door.

Tuesday 8th October Breakaway’s AGM on Club Night at theCharles Dickens John Selden. This will start at 8.45pm sharp, so that we can get back to our usual Club Night activities as soon as possible. If you would like to join the Committee, please let Enid know as soon as possible, so that she can give you a nomination form. If you have anything you would like to raise at the AGM, could you please put it in writing and hand it to any Committee Member, at least two weeks before the AGM, so that the Committee can address the issue or put it on the Agenda.
Tuesday 15th October Horsey Racing Game on Club Night at theCharles Dickens John Selden.
Friday 18th October Darts Night in the upstairs bar at the Charles Dickens / John Selden venue tbc. Meet at 7.30pm for an 8pm start. Cost £1pp, which goes into the prizes, or you can just come along to watch and socialise.
Tuesday 29th October Halloween Party Night on Club Night at theCharles Dickens John Selden. Dress up if you dare!

Wednesday 13th November Lunch and Greyhound Racing at Hove Greyhound Stadium, Nevill Road, Hove, BN3 7BZ. £9 for one course, £12 for two courses, £15 for three courses. Please see the poster on the noticeboard for more details. Richard needs a £9 deposit by Tuesday, 24th September, to confirm the booking.
November 2019 Live Band Night. Hopefully this will be The Hound Dawgs. Date and venue tbc.
Saturday 14th December Breakaway’s Christmas Party at Hillbarn Golf Club.
January or February 2020 Brewery Tour. Date and details tba.
